Seven members and guest rolled out of the Miller Grove School for a friendly loop of the MACC "Final Frontier" route. Although the thermometer read 34, sunny skies helped make it feel much warmer. Although most left their heavier clothing items behind, by mid ride they were thinking dressing for even warmer weather would have been the right plan. Average speed at the half way point was 17.9 (about half of this was tailwind) which went down to 17.1 by the finish. Most of the snow and ice from Friday's storm had melted, but there were several shaded sections of road where the group slowed a bit yet stretched out for individuals to choose their own line. At several points in the ride, we organized what many felt were the smoothest, solid pacelines we've had with MACC groups in years. A few experienced sudden cramping during the ride--cramps that just as quickly seemed to go away in time for the rider to participate in aggressive riding on the traditionally more exciting portions of the course.
