For over 15 years, the COD has been one of toughest rides on the MACC calendar. This easter sunday was no exception. Temperatures sored well into the 80's, making this the first hot day of the year. It was just 49 degrees and raining a week earlier. The heat took it's toll on the riders. The climbs on Ventoux, Alexandar Lake and Stagecoach were legendary. Torren and Daudi went for the KOM on Alexandar Lake, while the Larry's and I battled below. Daudi was able to vanquish Torren with with a sprint on the last rise. It was at this point were I launched my attack as well, dancing on peddles in my big gear and squeaky cleats. However, it was a different story on Stagecoach, were the two Titans continued to duel, riding away from the peloton and jumping the last store stop. The group held together and road to a strong finish. Thankfully, Bo was there with a MACC recovery pack of pizza, wings and brew. Overall, it was great day to be on a bike and fellowship with some great riders on Easter Sunday. A religious experience with praise, suffering and redemption.
